two things i keep almost buying: macalister suede desert boots and a nice pair of selvedge denim - both from j. crew. the macalister chukkas, in my opinion, have a better shape than the classic clark's desert boots or more expensive alden versions. the toe is unstructured in the macalister, and with the gum sole they just seem more true to the desert boot style. seemingly a perfect match to the shoes is a solid pair of selvedge denim jeans. every guy needs at least one pair of go-to jeans with the shape and color of j. crew's 484 slim-fit jeans in dark indigo.
i think j. crew explained the macalister chukka perfectly,
"you can pretty much wear them with every-thing else in your closet. enough said"
i keep wearing through my jeans way too fast. i'm hoping a nicer pair of selvedge denim without any vintage washes or fading will last a bit longer. either way, slim dark jeans and classic suede desert boots are an inescapably good combo.
